Steinerforumin ry:n tarkoituksena on kehittää ja edistää opettajien steinerpedagogista perehdyttämis-, jatko- ja täydennyskoulutusta.

Yhdistys pyrkii myös syventämään steinerpedagogiikkaan liittyvää kulttuurin tuntemusta.

Pääluenoitsija: Douglas Gerwin

Douglas Gerwin, Ph.D., is Director of the Center of Anthroposophy in Wilton, NH, where he oversees adult education programs including the preparation of Waldorf high school teachers. Douglas has himself taught history, literature, German, music, and life science at the Waldorf high school level since 1983. Prior to that time he taught child development and other courses to both graduates and undergraduates at the University of Dallas, where he received his doctorate in Psychology and Literature in 1984. Before entering the teaching profession, Dr. Gerwin served as foreign correspondent, editor, and radio broadcaster for Reuters News Agency in Europe from 1972 to 1978, based in Brussels, London, Prague, and Vienna.

 

Dr. Gerwin presently divides his time between adult education and mentoring or teaching in various North American Waldorf high schools. In 1994, he founded the Waldorf High School Teacher Education Program under the auspices of the Center for Anthroposophy, which offers Waldorf teacher preparation in conjunction with the Waldorf Masters program at Antioch University New England. As Chair of the high school program, Dr. Gerwin is responsible for readying high school teachers for the classroom, as well as serving as guest teacher and advisor to some 40 Waldorf high schools in Canada, Brazil, and the United States. He has lectured and led workshops on adolescence, Waldorf education, and foundation studies in anthroposophy at schools and colleges across North America, as well as in Europe, South America, and the Middle East. In 2012 he was selected as Chair of the Teacher Education Network, a circle of 14 teacher training institutes belonging to the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA).

 

In 2004, Dr. Gerwin was appointed Co-Director of the Research Institute for Waldorf Education, which oversees various research projects related to Waldorf education including the publication of its twice-yearly Research Bulletin. In 2013 he was made the Institute’s first Executive Director.

 

In all, Dr. Gerwin is co-author or editor of nine books on Waldorf education, including Survey of Waldorf Graduates, a comprehensive study of Waldorf alumni stretching back over 60 years. His most recent publication is a collection of articles entitled Trailing Clouds of Glory: Essays on Human Sexuality and the Education of Youth in Waldorf Schools (2014).

 

At present, Dr. Gerwin resides on the outskirts of Amherst, Massachusetts, with his wife Connie, a Waldorf high school teacher of mathematics.

Deepening the path of Waldorf Education

 

Tunnettu yhdysvaltalainen steinerpedagogi James Pewtherer tulee Helsinkiin Steinerforum ry:n kutsumana viikolla 45 (6.-10.11.) pitämään steinerkoulujen opettajille syventävän kurssin steinerpedagogiikasta. Kyseessä ei ole steinerpedagogiikkaan perehdyttäminen vaan jatkotyöskentelymahdollisuus jo steinerpedagogiikkaa tunteville. James Pewtherer on toiminut pitkään steinerkoulun opettajana ja hänet tunnetaan hyvin inspiroivana kurssinvetäjänä. Kurssilla käsitellään ihmiskäsityksen syventämisen lisäksi steinerkoululiiikkeen ajankohtaisia kysymyksiä. Kurssin kieli on englanti. Liitteenä ohjelma ja James Pewthererin lyhyt esittely.

 

Kurssi pidetään Helsingin Rudolf Steinerkoululla, Lehtikuusentie 6. Viiden päivän kurssin hinta on 350€ ilmoittauduttaessa viimeistään 14.10., sen jälkeen 380€. Ruokailu ei sisälly hintaan. JAMES PEWTHERER

BIOGRAPHY James Pewtherer, originally from San Francisco, studied Waldorf education for two years at Emerson College in the UK in the early 70's and has been a Steiner/Waldorf teacher since then.
In 1973, he was a founding teacher at the Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School on a 350-acre farm in New York, and has taught elementary, high school and teacher education courses in both New York and New England.
He has a degree in literature and a training in biodynamic horticulture from University of California, Santa Cruz.
James has served in leadership roles in the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, was a founding member of the Pedagogical Section Council of North America, is a member of the International Forum for Waldorf/Steiner Education (Hague Circle) and is a First Class Holder in the School for Spiritual Science of the Anthroposophical Society.eisin Kirsi Aarbakke ja Mikko Laulainen
